Laureli+ Abeno

CONCEPT

Design supervision project for an apartment complex in a dense residential area in Abeno Ward, Osaka City. The project was designed to improve privacy and comfort in a dense area by placing common corridors on the same side of the building where neighboring buildings are close, and balconies on the open side. In consideration of the relationship with the surrounding environment, the exterior design was sublimated into a compositional exterior design with “two faces” on the same side by contrasting the white and black walls on the balcony and common-use corridor sides, respectively. The vertical design with delicate “lines” using mullions and louvers, and the incorporation of modern materials such as aluminum panels and glass, reduce the sense of oppression against the city. The approach to the building has an exterior with a large entrance gate, gently separating the living space from the noise of the city.
