CONCEPT
Relocation and new building project for the head office and factory of a cutting tool manufacturer. The project aimed to organise the issues between processes in high-mix, low-volume production, and to consolidate the manufacturing and development lines of the company’s different businesses into a single building, thereby strengthening inter-departmental cooperation and improving production efficiency. The entrance and offices, production area and management area and other related functions were placed next to each other to create a space with good visibility, aiming to create a seamless factory with a sense of unity. The exterior is designed to express a single volume using folded-plate radial roofing materials with R processing, while the interior is designed to enjoy changes over time through the extensive use of hand-crafted plain finishes. In terms of the environment, natural light is brought in through top lighting and lighting on the north side of the building, and high-efficiency air conditioning has been installed in the production area to provide a comfortable workspace while balancing design and cost reductions.
