Panasonic Energy Nishi-Kadoma Factory no.5 renewal

CONCEPT

Renewal project for the introduction of development and evaluation facilities for Panasonic Energy Co., Ltd. at Panasonic’s Nishi-kadoma District Factory No. 5. In introducing the latest equipment into a building that had been used by other business divisions since its completion in 1959, the contents and priorities of the renovation were clarified from the perspective of legal compliance, structural safety, and fire and evacuation safety, and cost and schedule were optimized based on the concepts of “safety and security for employees” and “improvement of the work environment. The main structural frame was found to be damaged due to age-related deterioration (reduced bearing capacity), so the carbon fiber sheet method, main bar welding method, and no-shrink mortar method used in seismic retrofitting were employed to repair the structure. While keeping overall renovations to a minimum, the first floor office area was designed to enhance the hospitality of employees and visitors while keeping costs down through the use of warm lighting, friendly wood materials, and corporate motifs on the entrance wall and signage.
